My system:
Send me a note asking for a commission. Tell me which style you want; if you want a background; which character(s) you want me to draw, and give me as many good references as you can.
I will add you to the list, and give you my PayPal address when I am ready to start work on your commission. I will begin sketching as soon as you send me the money.
Next, I'll send you the sketch, to check that everything's in order. If not, I'll go to make any necessary changes.
When everything is good to go, I'll send you the final, full resolution version.
